Molly Has Been Recast Three Times Since Haley Pullos Left General Hospital
As previously mentioned, Haley Pullos assumed the role of Molly in 2009, and the actor has aged with the character as she went through her troubled teenage years being bullied. Eventually, she became a successful adult with her own marital issues, and Pullos was a prominent face on General Hospital. Unfortunately, Pullos was dropped from the show in mid-2023 after she was involved in a car accident and charged with a DUI (via People). In lieu of leaving the character behind forever, Molly was quickly recast. The first replacement was Holiday Mia Kriegel who assumed the role from May 25 to June 14, 2023.
The role was then recast again with Brooke Anne Smith taking over as Molly on General Hospital in July 2023, but Smith received backlash for portraying a part that was significantly younger than her actual age. Though the recast was advertised as a permanent solution to the Molly recasting (via Soaps in Depth), Brooke Anne Smith was eventually replaced in September 2023, with Kristen Vaganos taking over. Soap operas are known for their scandalous drama, but it seems as if Vaganos' turn as Molly has been a more permanent solution as she has continued in the role much longer than her immediate predecessors.

Kristen Vaganos' time as Molly on General Hospital has been rather brief, and she hasn't yet had a chance to put her stamp on the long-standing character. Vaganos herself is a relative newcomer to acting professionally, and General Hospital is her first major role in a soap. Her oldest professional credit dates back to 2014, but she has mostly worked in independent films, shorts, and various low-profile projects. In 2021, she appeared in the independent holiday movie The Christmas Dance, and she played the titular role in the 2019 low-budget sci-fi film I Am Lisa.
